Responsibilities of being a MERIT Member include:
- Regular attendance at our monthly MERIT Rounds
- Presentation at MERIT Rounds
Application package must include the following three documents:
- Membership form – to be completed HERE
- Letter of support from your department/program chair or lead
- A 250-500 word description of why you want to become a MERIT Member and how MERIT aligns with your academic career

Scholars
MERIT Scholars have demonstrated knowledge and experience in health professions education research and/or innovation projects.
Benefits to becoming a MERIT Scholar include:
- MERIT affiliation
- Your profile in MERIT communications
- The opportunity for project consultation with one of our scholars or scientists
- Internal competition for pilot research funding
- Access to office space and research assistant support (limited)
- Access to internal peer review of applications, publications and academic mentorship
Responsibilities of being a MERIT Scholar include:
- Regular attendance at our monthly MERIT Rounds
- Presentation at MERIT Rounds
- Peer consultations with Scholars and Scientists
- Scholarly paper review
- Membership on Masters in Health Science Education thesis committee(s) – pending meeting eligibility requirements from School of Graduate Studies
- Assist with welcoming and hosting visiting scholars/scientists

- Letter of support from your department/program chair or lead
- Recent CV
- A 500-1,000 word description of why you want to become a MERIT Scholar and how MERIT aligns with your academic career

Scientist
MERIT invites applications for a Clinician Scientist. The successful candidate will have an established track record of health professions education scholarship, including leading an identifiable program of research or innovation, receipt of peer-reviewed funding, and peer-reviewed research publications as first or senior author. Experience in a diversity of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies will be considered.
The successful candidate will:
- Have an active clinical practice in health sciences
- Hold a faculty appointment in an FHS school or department

Funding
Remuneration will be to offset 1.5 days/week away from clinical service. It is paid as a stipend. Additional resources (professional development allowance, software licences, office space, limited access to research assistant support) are also provided. The term of the position is three years renewable.
