About Us
About Us
The McMaster Education Research, Innovation and Theory (MERIT) Program has served the Faculty of Health Sciences for more than 45 years. We collaborate with faculty to engage in high-impact, high-value education scholarship. Currently, we have 8 scientists and several research support staff along with the addition of new MERIT members, scholars and adjunct scientists.
Our vision is to grow a community of scientists and clinicians to advance health professions education through research and applied science.
Research Themes
MERIT produces evidence to develop health professional expertise. We do this by advancing:
- Research on education in clinical, classroom, digital, and simulated learning environments
- Innovative designs and policies for teaching, learning and assessment
- Theories of social, professional, and cognitive skill development for high-quality healthcare
